Meet The Team
Operating from offices in East Sussex, housing law services is staffed by skilled lawyers with in-depth knowledge of their subjects.
Tim is an acknowledged expert on social housing law including disrepair, policies and procedures, anti-social behaviour, gas safety and landlord and tenancy disputes, and Senior partner at housing law services, the company which he founded in September 2003 with Julie Allen.
The firm provides advice, support and training to Registered Providers nationally and in London and the South East.
Tim has also served as the Law Society’s Council member for housing and a member of the Law Society’s housing law committee. Tim is also a founding committee member of the Social Housing Law Association (SHLA).
He trains and lectures housing management teams on Social Housing Law and Management issues.
Tim qualified at City of London law firm Waltons & Morse in 1994.
Julie has practised law for over 28 years, specialising in Housing Management. She represents Registered Providers at Courts throughout the Country in wide ranging housing management disputes, including complex disrepair and succession disputes and ASB.
Julie also assists clients in the drafting and implementation of policies internally, and externally with other agencies, working in partnership with her clients. Julie also trains Registered Providers in Housing Management.
Julie is a member of the management team at housing law services along with Tim Crook.
Lawrence deals exclusively with social Housing Management legal issues. Lawrence represents Registered Providers at court throughout the country. As well as providing day to day expert legal advice, Lawrence who was previously a court reporter, regularly updates clients on key changes in legislation and government policy by producing legal bulletins.
Before joining the firm, Lawrence specialised in advising and acting for social housing tenants and had several years advocacy experience prior to qualification at a Nationwide legal agency. Lawrence also managed the Lawtel team at the Royal Courts of Justice responsible for preparing latest housing law case reports.
Experience: Glenda has specialised in Housing management for over 25 years, and in that time has been employed by a major Registered Provider and has direct experience in neighbourhood management for social landlords.
Glenda led a Housing Association group wide project to prepare new policies and procedures on ASB and trained staff in their implementation. Glenda was also part of a Government Regeneration Scheme holding the post of Community Safety Manager.
Glenda has now joined the Management Team as the Business/Office Manager.
Emily has been working with hls for several years during holiday periods gaining valuable work experience and successfully completed her undergraduate Law Degree and obtained a distinction in her Legal Practice Course.
Emily joined the firm full time in September 2017 as a trainee solicitor and has now represented many clients in possession claims based on Anti Social Behaviour as well as injunction and other proceedings.
JULIET WALLER (Naylor)
Juliet provides support and assistance to the team with legal advice in particular with regard to service charges, homeownership and housing management, which includes ASB Injunctions, possession, succession and rent arrears cases. Juliet is also one of the team dealing with recovery of service charges.
Juliet regularly attends legal surgeries giving client’s advice and assistance without the need for a formal legal referral.
Before joining the team Shelley worked for H.M. Revenue & Customs in an enforcement capacity working within the court service.
Shelley provides support and assistance to the team. She is responsible for processing the rent arrears, warrant enforcement, gas safety and electrical injunctions throughout the country. She also provides advice and assistance to clients in relation to Anti Social Behaviour injunctions, possession actions, tenancy breach possession and/or injunctions.
Experience: Joanna is a Consultant solicitor for the firm. Joanna qualified 32 years ago and has extensive experience in non-contentious work. Joanna specialises in non-contentious residential and commercial property law.
Joanna has experience in drafting social housing tenancy agreements and Private Sector Leases and has been involved in providing advice and assistance over issues of funding for supporting people.
